New Scene Partner® 2.0 Sets the Stage for e-Scripts!

This week we announced the release of Scene Partner 2.0 and set the stage for the next theartrical innovation – digital e-Scripts from Scene Partner.

This new version of Scene Partner gives you the tools you need to work with these digital versions of scripts from the world’s premier theatrical publishers. The first e-Scripts will be offered by leading play publisher Dramatists Play Service and are projected to be available in the new Scene Partner WebStore in May 2012. If you missed our announcement in December you can read more about it in Variety, Stage Directions and STAGE Magazine!

So, if you haven’t updated to Scene Partner 2.0 yet, now is the time to do it! In addition to providing e-Scripts functionality, we made some other big changes, including:

Scene Partner is Now One App, not Two

  • Current Scene Partner Lite customers should download the new Scene Partner 2.0 instead. Why?
  • We combined the previous Lite and Paid versions of Scene Partner into one App for greater convenience.
  • Scene Partner is now one App, and it’s FREE. It includes all the Features that came with the former Scene Partner Lite – Cast, Listen and Record. Everything you need to get started and get offbook.
  • PLUS, you can now add the Premium Paid Features that came with the former Full Version individually for only $1.99 each or in a convenient Feature Pack for $4.99. Save over 15% vs the single Feature price. The Paid Features can now be purchased from within the app.
  • But don’t worry, if you already have the Paid version and update to 2.0, all of your Paid Features are automatically included.
  • And because it’s now one App, any Scripts that you download or Voices that you purchase in new Scene Partner 2.0 will be available for use when you are ready to add Paid Features.
  • Because of these changes, Scene Partner Lite has been discontinued. We will continue to support the Lite version with its current functionality for a while, but e-Scripts will only work in Scene Partner 2.0 and future versions.

Scene Partner Just Got a Lot Smaller

  • The size of the App has been dramatically reduced. Scene Partner can now be downloaded over cellular networks! This also makes it easier for you to download updates quickly when we add new features in the future.
  • How did we do that? We removed the two free text to speech voices from the App download! But don’t worry, we will automatically prompt you to download them again once you install or update the App.
  • Please be aware that each voice requires approximately 60MB of available space and may take a few minutes to download depending on your internet connection.

And Last, But Not Least

  • We’ve added Push Messages to let you know when e-scripts from theatrical publishers will be ready. We’ll also use these messages to let you know when important new titles are available! Be sure to accept Push Messages when prompted so that you can stay up-to-date. We won’t spam you, we promise!
  • We added the ability to hide your lines in the Read screen using the new Black highlight color, toggle it on and off to hide and reveal your lines.
  • We fixed some bugs that were related to Apple’s release of iOS 5, including playback conflicts with Apple’s AirPlay and keyboard problems in the Edit screen.

The next few months will bring some exciting changes to the Scene Partner service, changes that we hope you will like. As always, if you have questions, comments or recommendations for what we can do better, please do not hesitate to drop us a line at We love hearing from you!

Thanks and good luck getting offbook!
