In Scene Partner, the listen screen is where the text-to-speech playback and your recorded lines come together. It is where the wide variety of playback modes give you the option to hear the script the way that you want to hear it. It is where Scene Partner takes old fashioned voice recording and turbo charges it to help you learn your lines.
So how does the listen screen work? You start at the get offbook screen and choose the listen icon. Scene Partner presents you with a choice of the available Listening Modes. These modes are pretty self explanatory, but they essentially allow you to choose how you want to hear the script played back for you during your current working session. You can always exit and try a different mode or you can use the one that you chose until a different mode works better for you. It all depends on where you are in the process of memorizing lines.
When you choose a Listening Mode the Listen screen opens to a standard iPod Player interface. From the bottom of this screen you can Play and Pause, control the Volume, and jump Forward and Back. The lines that are being played back will appear in the center of the screen. From the top of the screen you can Scrub through the lines, cues or scenes in the script where your character appears using the scrubber bar. You can change the Playback Speed from 1X to 2X, automatically Repeat the segment that you have just heard and Email your friends to tell them all about Scene Partner.
In addition to the scrubber bar you can select the Tracklist button in the upper right corner to show a list of the lines, cues or scenes for your Character. Scroll the list and select a spot on the list to jump to immediately. Tapping the Back Arrow takes you back to the Listen screen at the spot you selected.
From the Listen screen, you can select the Back Arrow to return to the get offbook screen. For actors who use recorded audio to learn lines, the advanced features of the Listen screen will take you to a whole new level.
